Siegfried in Singapore!

Siegfried is in Singapore!! woots~!~! :D

He's my mum's friend, hence a family friend... He took care of jie and I when we went over to Germany for exchange and whenever he's here mum will take care of him. (:

So anyway, I haven't seen him for two years now and I'm so glad to see him again! :D He took really good care of Jared and I when we were in Germany.. He fetched us from the airport and got us settled in.. He brought us to visit the towns of Weinheim and Schwetzingen. He also took us along to a gathering with his friends where we experienced our first true blue german-style bbq by the riverside. Not forgetting his invitation to stay at his parents' house, which bordered on the edge of a forest where we got to pick cherries in the wild, and climb up old-school tree-houses and all. There was even deer in the backyard at night!

After all that he has done for us in Germany, it was nice to be able to return the favour.. albeit small in comparison, but still something ahaha...

So he's staying at my place now and we have really stocked up food for him to make him feel comfortable, and on top of that, Jared and I brought him out to lunch today! (: 

We went to a vegetarian restaurant at Holland Village called Original Sin.

The restaurant.. Ambience was kinda nice and chill. ;)

There was a buffet table for the starters.. Mainly a lot of greens, with olives, feta cheese, potatoes, japanese style grilled eggplant, etc. I'm a carnivore so this was a kind of hell for me ahahah.

Minestrone Soup.. It was one of the worst I have ever eaten. I think i poured like one spoonful of salt into it. I'm not used to a super sweet Minestrone Soup.. I like it salty and very clear...

This was my dish.. Some portebello thingy. i cannot remember but it was nice.. at first. But I'm really not cut out to be vegetarian.. =X

Tandori Skewers. Jared and Siegfried both ordered this.. I didn't try it so don't know how was it, but Jared and Siegfried finished everything (unlike me) so I'm guessing it was good. :P

Dessert was plain ol simple Vanilla Ice Cream. This one was nice vanilla ice cream.. and it had black dots in them! (i think that vanilla ice cream with black dots in them taste better than others :D)

Random

Being jobless can be very boring sometimes. You're awake at insane hours with nothing to do and nobody to talk to.. I'm like so lucky it's exam time right now and I will always find some of my friends awake at these odd hours. They won't be free for idle chit-chat but will be game if I am in need of a supper buddy. ;)

And yes, I am in school now. ahahahaha! NO.. I'm not here to disturb my friends and play games in full view of everyone.. :P I signed up for one of the basic insurance exams and will be taking the exam next week. So I'm actually here to study ahaha! :)

There's a lot of inertia tho.. heh heh. I've been checking email, facebook, twitter etc oh and blogshopping too!

Speaking of blogshopping, I bought this today! :DDD Can't wait for it to arrive.. Hope it fits nicely.. XD

And now... Back to the books! errr. no. repharse...  ONTO the books! :D

In a moment of utter boredom.. I googled "Top 10 movies of 2010" for some inspiration for movies to watch..

I clicked the first link I found and hoped they had some interesting movies on that list.. No gore and horror, nor any draggy action movies for me. ;)

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Goooooood movie! :D I liked it a lot.. Maybe it's the fantasy thingy.. Like air/earth/water/fire bending.. It's surreal.. I just found myself so absorbed in the story.. And it was definitely more informative about the background of the Avatar than watching random episodes off Nickelodeon. 

Scott Pilgrim vs The World

I have no idea what's the purpose of the movie. I only watched it coz Starworld kept raving about it.. But it seemed so fake and rubbish. The characters are all so weird and idiotic. I kept wondering when it was going to end! >.< They had some really funny effects tho to make it seem more comic-book like.. It was probably the only thing I liked about the movie. 

Thinking of more movies to watch.. Any suggestions?

(oh and yahh I just watched HP6 to prepare to watch HP7 in the movies! :D)

The Social Network & Mark Zuckerberg

I am a officially a fan of Mark Zuckerberg.

Yup.

[Spoiler alert!]

I watched the movie and felt a little mehhh... But like after talking about it with gc (who I would say is a potential mark zuckerberg hurhur), I realised that Mark's passion for what he believed in was like a driving force that propelled facebook to be what it is today. I mean like his friend kept asking him abt business model, advertisers etc etc but his primary focus was to make something cool. To bring social interactions online. and thus I developed a new appreciation for the movie. :P

The movie actually portrayed his character to be quite socially inept and a little heartless.. and I felt so ugh towards him after watching the movie. But like.. I got so curious to find out more about the validity of the things said in the movie and like the tendency to put Mark in a bad light and Eduardo in a positive light. So I did a little research and realised that the movie was highly influenced by the book The Accidental Billionaires which Eduardo contributed and Mark didn't.


NO WONDER IT SEEMED SO BIAS... :P


I also found this very interesting article from BusinessInsider about The Full Story Of How Facebook Was Founded. Gives you a new perspective on the movie and what actually happened. ;)

Here's a video, also from BusinessInsider, of an interview of Mark Zuckerberg last year before the movie became famous. I found it to be pretty interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. Makes me feel like starting my own business too! ahhaaha towards the end it gets a bit technical though. I only watched half of it.. hehh. :P

Slow Weekend

I got to spend like almost the whole day with my daddy today! *beams*

First, he brought me to Sakae. We're both mad crazy over sushi/sashimi and we so ordered like 5 red plates and ala carte soft shell crab! Yes we ordered more but these were the more notable items ahaha. AND I got to eat my favourite Ebi Mentai sushi, and Kajiki Sashimi!! :D After which I got to indulge in Hazelnut bubble tea from Each-a-cup before mum came to pick us up. However.. Instead of going home, I got dragged to Great World City where dad had to pick up some supplements from GNC while mum did some grocery shopping. >.<

It actually wasn't so bad spending the day with them.. I just didn't like the idea of being dragged around without being asked that's all.

But at end of the day, my filial piety paid off when dad let me drive home in mum's humongous car - a Honda Odyssey (well it's really big compared to jie's teeny tiny Honda City). (: It was a little scary coz I was perched up higher than normal, and like dad kept repeating instructions over and over again.. You are going to turn right so keep left.. keep left somemore.. Keep left!! NOOO THAT'S TOO MUCH!!!

Yeahh you get my drift..

But it turned out easier than I expected. (: Mum wasn't very supportive at first tho... Saying I couldn't handle it.. Saying it's not easy.. and even after we got home she said I told you not easy right? Wait till you try parking.

I think she didn't want to relinquish her exclusive right to the car hence the not-so-encouraging behaviour. =/

And utterly bohliao me went to do some research to compare the 2 cars..

And WOW my mum's car is like 40cm longer than jie's! No wonder parking's a bitch. :PP

I had sucha a slow weekend that I have difficulty remembering what I did from Friday to Sunday. =X. I wasn't feeling too well on Saturday though.. Was supposed to go for a career assessment thingy but had to reschedule to tomorrow. =X

I did pop by school one of the nights tho coz staying at home all the time is incredibly boring and the lists and lists of job vacancies to sift through are so demoralising that I fit right in with all these stressed out peeps. ;)

Yayy!! My maxi dress from TDC arrived today and I'm so in love with it! :D It's so flattering and prettyy!! I cannot wait for an occasion to wear it out..

Yup here's me trying it on in my sister's room ahahah. :P

It's my first maxi dress and it definitely won't be my last! It makes me look kinda skinny tho.. =X

Sleepless nights

rawrrr I thought I fixed my screwed up sleeping habits.. well apparently I was wrong..

I cannot seem to fall asleep, it's like I'm not tired.

Was surfing the internet during the past few hours and these two webbys caught my interest for the longest time: lolsnaps and lamebook. Super lame.. super funny. Will go back and read somemore if I'm bored lol.

I AM SO BROKE I AM NOT GOING OUT ANYTIME SOON

This (plus a pair of specs) set me back $375!!

Needed to buy specs and contact lenses for the longest time already..

Today, I finally dragged Cheng to Queensway with me.. And we scoured the whole of level one before I finally found a pair of plastic specs that actually looks good on me!

Well.. I actually found two that suited my face shape.. The first one was a black really classy looking one that was absolute love at first sight for me! Unfortunately the lady was trying to rip me off (boohoo) and wanted to sell it to me for $200 before costs for the lenses zzz -.-''

Then at one of the last shops we walked into (I was pretty demoralised at this point of time already), I found this pair of dark red plastic specs that were really cool! And the uncle was really friendly, letting me try like everything on display lols. :D In the end, he gave me a discount.. supposedly.. but I mean it was within my price range and it was $175 with lenses and all. I will go collect it friday wheee~~

Bought my contact lenses from him too and he threw in 2 pairs of coloured ones for free! Yay!! It'll be my first time trying such contact lenses! (I'm so noob right only now then try?! =x)

LOL she totally didn't recognise me at first. :P So cool to run into her considering she also went crescent and jj like the both of us. She even asked me how come we were out together? :PP

She's working at Exxon now.. (i feel so useless).. And she was telling us that one of our classmates is getting married next year. HOW.COOL.IS.THAT?! :D 

YAYYYY I FINALLY HAVE FRIENDS GETTING MARRIED!!!

Anyway, she initiated that we meetup with some of our sec4 classmates.. And I really like the idea of meeting up with old classmates and finding out how they are and how they've changed. I'm pretty scared about it though.. I think i was a social idiot in secondary school... =XXX

Deepavali Weekend!

This weekend, I've seen xt like twice already! Haha! That's more often than the months of Jul, Aug & Sept combined!

She was going to thread her eyebrows at browhaus on Thursday and she called me to go along.

My eyebrows are really thick and like a lot of people have told me to go and pluck/thread them so that it doesn't look so bushy ahahah! I've never threaded my eyebrows before so I thought I should give it a try.

When we got there, they were full already and since xt didn't make a reservation we had to come back on Saturday (yesterday) to do it. >.<

We didn't really do much the both times we went out. Just took loads and loads of pictures! (:
