Singapore to Gold Coast

Gosh I'm finally back after 7 days in Gold Coast.. It's such a bittersweet feeling to be back. The holiday was really fun, but it did have a lot of down moments too and I kept wanting to come back... Not to mention missing Eric terribly. Sadly he flew off to Gold Coast today for conference. Like what are the odds right? That he'd get sent there just after I return from there.. Hai....

The journey there..
We flew to GC via Scoot. It was ~S$500  inclusive of extra luggage and 2 meals. I think it's very worth it! Unfortunately, the Scoot team were really disorganized service-wise. As we were seated right in front of the "kitchen", we thought we would be served our meals first, but alas they wheeled the food cart right to the front and started giving out the food from there.

Every so often 1 or 2 stewardess would shuttle back and forth taking orders from the front of the cabin whilst we who pre-paid were left waiting until the cart reached us. In addition, one random stewardess gave out luggage tags to us and another stewardess gave my parents fruit cups. It seemed really strange to us then, coz we ordered 5 meal sets.. Why didn't we get the same items? It was resolved rather easily after informing the flustered stewardess.. but the meals took really long to come. Angry passengers were constantly ringing the bell for the stewardess which were almost never attended to..

When the cart finally came, they got our orders completely wrong and we had to go through with them exactly what we ordered before they came back with our 3 Briyanis. Jie and I ordered Lasagna which took superrrrr long to arrive. It was bad enough that we had to wait for the stupid cart to reach us before we even got our orders taken, but my parents had finished their meals + dessert and jie and I were still waiting hungrily for our meals to arrive.

After that horrible fiasco, we all promptly went to sleep and nothing much really happened after that lol. The seats were quite comfortable seeing as they are supposed to be old SQ planes.

Arriving in Gold Coast
We touched down around 8 in the morning. Apparently Coolangatta Airport is a budget airport. There were other budget airlines there such as AirAsia and Jetstar. Immgration was a NIGHTMARE. The whole plane (I estimate ~500ppl) was unloaded into the small immigration area and they had ONLY FOUR OPEN COUNTERS ZZZ..

The good thing about the airport tho was they have free wifi which I promptly put to good use. =D

After we finally got through immagration, dad went to settle the car rental stuff, tricia and I grabbed as many maps as possible, and we were off!

Since we were super hungry, we decided to stop at MacDonald's for breakfast/lunch. Gosh their McDees are really ex! A meal was easily A$9 (x1.3 to get SGD)! It was right next to a 7-11 and they had Krispy Kreme!!! =DDD I super lubbb Krispy Kreme but it cost A$2.50 zzz... Everything in the land of Oz was looking to cost a bomb.

As it was still early and we could only check-in at 2pm, Tricia (our appointed navigator and itinerary planner) suggested we go to Burleigh Heads (pronounced "burly") to check out Basalt rocks. Dad and Tricia explained it to me already but I still don't remember what's the big deal about.. =X I'm not exactly a geography person.

We took shit loads of pictures.. Our first view of the sea and it was gorgeous.. the sun was shining so brightly and the air was nice and cool..

We went to the hotel after Burleigh Heads and the view was amazing. The apartment was really big for all of us and I ended up getting a room to myself heehee.. =D I'm a light sleeper and I don't like sunlight in the morning so I took the Queen size bed with a super small window and the other 2 heavy sleepers took the room with the window for a side wall. (they ended up getting roasted by the morning sun the subsequent days hahah)

After checking into the hotel. we went to Coles Supermarket and started buying all the different snacks to try as well as the snacks to bring back as gifts. This was all done by 3.30pm and after that, Dad went with Dion to check out the wines.. Whilst waiting for him to be back.. We all crashed till 7+. I felt so tired I didn't even want to get up for dinner.

Dion brought us to eat Thai food for dinner before bringing us to his place to take a look. He's working in gold coast and is staying in a service apt for this period. It was a nicer apartment than ours and supposedly pricier too.

That's all for day one in gold coast. And no pictures yet. Too many to qc. We have 3000+ photos taken in 5 cameras over 7 days can you believe it?!?
