Krabi - Day 1

How to begin writing this entry about Krabi..? So many things to talk about.. So many awesome experiences..

Let me start first by saying I didn't know where the hell krabi was before I even went there. My ex colleague went there before and told me it was really nice.. So when Eric asked me if I wanted to go Krabi, I was like okie anything! :p

Unfortunately for us, the only budget airline that flew to Krabi was Tiger. What was supposed to be $65 one way before plus plus became $200 round trip. Ughhh what a way to cheat us!!!

Here we are waiting excitedly at the airport.. (:

Us in Krabi Airport!

I was a little wary upon touching down. So much untamed land.. Ill-constructed roads and loads and loads of vegetation. For a fleeting moment I wondered why I left civilisation for this. =/

30 minutes later we were ushered into the quaint resort entrance. I was a little surprised at the aircon-less reception area. Whilst Eric settled our arrangements with the resort, I walked around to see what other facilities they had and looked for the beach. Apparently, the reception area and the pool (which looked really dirty), were all they had in facilities. There was no beach in sight, and only one restaurant! Not to mention we were so far inland I couldn't even smell the sea at all. But that's about all that was bad and things started looking up from there. (:

the Pool. (:

for the main course I had pineapple rice Eric had pad Thai. I'm not really a fan of tau geh so I didn't really like the pad Thai but the pineapple rice was nice (:

We were then ushered to our room after lunch, and boy was it bigggggg. Eric told me we would have a villa, but I was so used to cramped hotel/hostel rooms I didn't expect this! I had more space than I knew what to do with..

We crashed upon seeing the bed and set a 3.30pm alarm to catch the 4pm shuttle to town. We got up at 3.50 and rushed like mad to catch the shuttle. Genius that we were.. We forgot the maps and the insect repellent. Consequences of forgetting the map was small but the repellant was major. I think I had 4 mega hugeass bites that day O.O

Their 'town' was quite a bustling tourist place and completely unexpected after that long drive from the airport. I dragged Eric into everyyyy shop and bargained like mad over everything and anything heehee. They had all those cheap tourist tshirts and tanks, beach cloth, sunglasses, anything beach-related and best of all waterproof bags!!! :D I've been thinking about buying them ever since my trip to Tioman but they were so expensive there and in Redang as well.
