Krabi - Day 2

Day 2 of our holiday found us dragging our pitiful butts out of bed at the crack of dawn. We had to wake up early to pack and have breakfast before going off for our Phi Phi Islands tour.
Photobucket
Breakfast was rather mehhh.. A simple affair. I was still very stoned.

Our pickup truck was waiting for us whilst we were finishing up our breakfast. And brought us to pick up more passengers from other hotels before dropping us at a small shack in front of a fairly big jetty. It was pretty crowded at this shack with at least 50 people waiting inside. Turns out that business was so good for that tour company they were sending out 3 speed boats for the phi phi island tour!

The boat ride was expected to take 1hr 30mins to reach our first destination and initially I was so excited. Took loads of pictures of nothingness and stuck my head out of the boat the way dogs stick their head out of a car window.

Strong wind!!

random not-so-random island
Photobucket
This random island that we stopped by actually contains many many swallow bird nests that the locals maintain and sell..
So cool they actually use Solar panels!

Next up, Emerald bay.
The water was so clear and calm and it was such a pretty bay area enclosed by the mountains.

Krabi - Day 1

How to begin writing this entry about Krabi..? So many things to talk about.. So many awesome experiences..

Let me start first by saying I didn't know where the hell krabi was before I even went there. My ex colleague went there before and told me it was really nice.. So when Eric asked me if I wanted to go Krabi, I was like okie anything! :p

Unfortunately for us, the only budget airline that flew to Krabi was Tiger. What was supposed to be $65 one way before plus plus became $200 round trip. Ughhh what a way to cheat us!!!

Here we are waiting excitedly at the airport.. (:
Photobucket
long queue hai...
PhotobucketPhotobucket
Us in Krabi Airport!
PhotobucketPhotobucket
I was a little wary upon touching down. So much untamed land.. Ill-constructed roads and loads and loads of vegetation. For a fleeting moment I wondered why I left civilisation for this. =/

30 minutes later we were ushered into the quaint resort entrance. I was a little surprised at the aircon-less reception area. Whilst Eric settled our arrangements with the resort, I walked around to see what other facilities they had and looked for the beach. Apparently, the reception area and the pool (which looked really dirty), were all they had in facilities. There was no beach in sight, and only one restaurant! Not to mention we were so far inland I couldn't even smell the sea at all. But that's about all that was bad and things started looking up from there. (:

the Pool. (:

Foosball Table!!!
Photobucket
Our first meal was at the hotel restaurant. I had the yummiest tomyum goong spammed with prawns and mushrooms :D
Photobucket
for the main course I had pineapple rice Eric had pad Thai. I'm not really a fan of tau geh so I didn't really like the pad Thai but the pineapple rice was nice (:
Photobucket
His pad Thai w more yummy prawns. (:

We were then ushered to our room after lunch, and boy was it bigggggg. Eric told me we would have a villa, but I was so used to cramped hotel/hostel rooms I didn't expect this! I had more space than I knew what to do with..
Photobucket
:D

The bathroom was pretty awesome too :P
Photobucket
Love nest :D

We crashed upon seeing the bed and set a 3.30pm alarm to catch the 4pm shuttle to town. We got up at 3.50 and rushed like mad to catch the shuttle. Genius that we were.. We forgot the maps and the insect repellent. Consequences of forgetting the map was small but the repellant was major. I think I had 4 mega hugeass bites that day O.O

us on the shuttle to town..
Photobucket
damn dangerous can..?
Photobucket
Their 'town' was quite a bustling tourist place and completely unexpected after that long drive from the airport. I dragged Eric into everyyyy shop and bargained like mad over everything and anything heehee. They had all those cheap tourist tshirts and tanks, beach cloth, sunglasses, anything beach-related and best of all waterproof bags!!! :D I've been thinking about buying them ever since my trip to Tioman but they were so expensive there and in Redang as well.
Photobucket
whee see the cliff in the background. :D
Photobucket
We didn't really do much that afternoon.. Just alot of shopping and eating heehee.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
Photobucket
They have the best coconut shake everrrr! They have loads of those tiny bits of coconut that u can chew on. I loved it!! And it was only 25bht! Like how awesome is that? :D

We ate dinner at this restaurant called Eden's garden. The 2nd floor of the restaurant was open air and it has a nice romantic ambience. Eric saw all the seafood on display and he just couldn't resist..
