Joining Cross in my last year of NUS was like the best decision I have ever made in my NUS life. I filled up my life with running and other social activities with these awesome people I call my team mates. And these people were special. They accept you for who you are, whether you are a serious runner or not. They smile and welcome you every training and hope you keep coming back. They respect you as individuals and understand that you make your own decisions to be the kind of runner you want to be, even if you stop coming back. They encourage you and keep urging you to press on, even when you think you can go no further. They set examples and provide inspiration for all us mortals.
And despite all that, they expect nothing from you. You don't have to come to every training, you don't have to participate in our activities. They will only take, and maybe even ask, for what you are only willing to give.
What gives you the right to take away what you have given them so willingly? What gives you the right to cause strife for these same people that have accepted you as you are. With all your faults and imperfections.. They welcome you just the same.
