Miners in Chile

I happened to see this short article on The Straits Times webby about Chile moving up the rescue date for 33 miners from the end of Oct to Oct 15... I was like whattt? why take so long? Aren't there lives in danger?

Turns out the mine actually collapsed on the 5th of August, and all rescue efforts were thwarted by rocks collapsing.. There were no news of the miners until the 22nd of August, when a drill broke through all that distance (supposed 2x the height of empire state building) and they found a note from the miners saying that they were ok.

I felt so emotional upon seeing that picture.

Can you imagine being one of their family members? And waiting for what would seem as indefinitely before knowing that they are alive and well?

It's been 2 months since the collapse.. And they're still fighting to get these people out. I really really hope that they do. I can't imagine how it must feel like.. To be kept waiting for so long..

Find out more from wiki and msnbc. (the 2nd link is VERY informative :P)
