the little things..: CWA Xmas Luncheon

Mum's in this association called Chinese Women's Association (CWA). It's a voluntary welfare organisation.. So basically they aren't paid and like they do things with the intention to help the community like charity work, as well as providing networking opportunities and supporting women entrepreneurs etc (i think).

So mum had this Christmas Luncheon she was helping to organise and she needed volunteers to model for her.. for free!! owell, I didn't really have an excuse for saying no since I'm jobless.. And I thought why not?? Go for the free food! It was at St Regis anyway! (the food wasn't free in the end but nvm that's not the focus on this post :p) I went down the the boutique AVANA:loft at Pacific Plaza and tried like 6 dresses. I was too skinny for all of them! Luckily there were some dresses that I could manage to pull off and some that could be taken in.. *phew* ahahah.. Then we went down to St Regis on another day to practice our catwalk and the path that we would need to walk on the actual day. It took 3 whole hours.. >.<

I met the other 7 models during these two sessions.. We were mostly either CWA members, if not we were children of the members.. It was a bit awkward since we didn't know each other before (not to mention the age gap lol)

On the actual day, I got there at 9 on the dot and was really upset the makeup artists and the hairstylists were late! They didn't arrive until 9.30 and the 8 of us were supposed to be done by 10.45 so that we could do a dry run at the hotel! Talk about panic man.. We eventually made it back by 11 but no dry run >.< That was bad coz I eventually took a completely wrong path and walked the wrong way during the show!! I was mortified and yet I still had to force a smile as though nothing is going on and figure out if I was to turn back or keep going. Anyway, I did have a lot of fun in the end. We were all nervous together and we talked among ourselves and laughed at one another. It's just this thing about shared experiences that bring people together.. :)
